Man beaten to death with iron pipe over argument

A 40-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death with an iron pipe by his cousin, both in an inebriated state, after an argument in East Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Ram <g data-gr-id="23">Aasre</g> (42), fled the spot after the incident and he is still at large, said a senior police official.

According to the police, the incident was reported on Tuesday evening when the cousins, Sarabjeet Singh and <g data-gr-id="30">Aasre</g>, who worked at a garment factory, joined other workers over drinks at the terrace of the factory building. They entered into an argument, after the others left, which soon ensued into a scuffle and <g data-gr-id="31">Aasre</g> allegedly attacked Singh with an iron pipe. He fled the scene after Singh collapsed on the ground and left him lying over a pool of blood. He also locked the terrace door from outside and informed the security guard that he was leaving for his village.

Later, when a cleaner went to clear the terrace, he saw Singh’s body and raised an alarm. The security guard immediately informed the factory owner, who called up the Police Control Room and reported the matter. Singh was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead, said a police official.

The police questioned the other workers and the accused was identified in no time. A case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC and he is being tracked by a police team, said the official.
