Man axes alcoholic son to death

A 62-year-old father killed his son, who used to beat him to extort money, police said on Monday.
Naresh Kumar [25] was axed to death by his father Sita Ram, around 9 pm on Sunday, at Haidarpur in Shalimar Bagh area. Kumar, an alcoholic, had demanded money from his mother to buy liquor before he started fighting with his father.
‘When his mother refused to give him money, he started beating her up. He also started a fight with his father, who attacked Kumar with an axe that hit his head,’ said a police officer.
Police said they have arrested Sita Ram, who told police that his son was addicted to liquor and used to extort money from him. Kumar even used to beat his parents when they did not give him money.
In another incident, a 22-year-old youth was killed by some unidentified assailants in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar on Sunday Night.
The deceased, Sameer, who lived in Trilokpuri, worked with a private firm. His father runs transport business.
‘While returning from work, he was barely a few metres away from his home when he was shot by some assailants,’ said a police officer. Neighbours informed police and Sameer was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri [LBS] hospital where he was declared dead on arrival, said the official.
It seemed to be a case of personal animosity. A case regarding the incident has been registered and probe is on. Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased created ruckus at the police station and hospital, demanding arrest of the killers.
