Man arrested for raping, blackmailing married woman

The woman registered a complaint on Friday that the accused had filmed the incident and had been blackmailing her. The victim met the accused two years ago during karate classes in Paschim Vihar and befriended him. 

The incident happened last year when the accused identified as Aftab invited her to his place and offered her a cold drink which was mixed with sedatives. 

He then sexually assaulted her and even made a video of it, which was kept on his computer.

Somehow the video was leaked. According to police, the complainant approached the police.

Aftab had also allegedly threatened the victim several times on the basis of his claimed political connections, said a senior police official.

He allegedly continued blackmailing the woman and sexually assaulted her even after she got married around six months ago. Things turned worse when the video recording got leaked about a week ago. The woman then approached the police and reported the matter, the officer said.

Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, West said, “The accused was arrested on around 8.pm on August 14. He has been booked under Sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison or drug with intent to commit a offence), 385 (putting a person in fear of injury to commit extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and appropriate sections of the IT Act”. According to the police, the leaked video clip has been retrieved from Aftab with which he used to blackmail her.

According to police officials, Aftab claims that he gave his computer to a shop for repair. It was the shop owner who had copied the file and distributed them. 

These allegations will be verified in the investigation. Police <g data-gr-id="30">has</g> also found photographs in the accused’s personal computer where he is seen with members of the political party. He is an active member who has organised various cultural programmes in the neighbourhood.
