Man arrested for killing aunt who said no to physical relationship

Infatuated towards his maternal aunt and to woo her, he turned up at her place. When she refused, he slit her throat and fled the spot. The accused, Ravi, alias Manoj (32), was arrested after the police managed to unearth the connection.

He had tried to flee after slitting his aunt’s throat and dumped his blood stained shirt and the mobile of the deceased in a jute bag and fled from the spot. “We had managed to catch him after one day and when we caught him, he confessed to his involvement in the crime. He told us that he wanted to have a physical relationship with the victim,” said a senior police official.

The incident took place in Outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri area on Tuesday. According to the police, Pushpa, a homemaker, was not answering the door, despite several attempts by the husband to get into his house.

The husband waited for her for a few hours and later climbed down the stairs and saw that the light inside the house was on. Thinking that his wife may have returned, he tried to gain entry inside the house. He later thought of breaking in by the window and managed to get a glimpse of Pushpa’s legs. Suspecting that his wife was dead, he made a PCR call. DCP (Outer), M N Tiwari said : “The accused tried to get involved with the victim. She refused and then he took out a kitchen knife from the table and threatened her, when she did not relent, he proceeded to slit her throat”. The accused later threw the mobile phone near a drain in Rohini and kept the key of the victim’s house and his blood stained clothes at his house. Further investigation is underway.
