Man arrested for cheating bizman

Police arrested a 56-year-old man on charges of cheating a businessman by creating fake e-mail ids of a company run by the Mizoram government.

Police said that the accused Bikash Chandra Sarkar, alias BK Mukherjee alias, Kamalesh Sarkar was arrested from Seoraphuli in Hooghly. He is originally a resident of Bally in Howrah. He had created fake email IDs and sent mails to the complainant Tarun De, Managing Director, Ecology Remedeo and Research Pvt Ltd and after subsequent discussions he posed as an official of Mizoram Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd and had sent a work order to the complainant to install a machinery in the factory. The work order was of around Rs 39 lakh.

He had then asked the complaint to deposit Rs 48,077 in two of his bank account which were opened in two different names. Despite depositing the money he had not been given the papers to execute the task. It aroused the suspicion of De and he lodged a complaint with the police.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in the wee hours arrested him from Sheoraphuli. Two dongles, laptop, two mobile phones, three bank pass books and sixteen SIM cards of different service providers were seized from him. He was remanded in police custody.
