Mamata to take direct questions on Facebook

For the first time ever, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be interacting on Facebook with the masses on Wednesday.

Banerjee tweeted on Monday announcing that she will be available for the live Facebook chat from 8.30 pm on Wednesday. It is learnt from TMC sources that she will continue chatting for around half an hour and answer questions. She will be giving instant reply to the questions. According to a senior TMC leader, Banerjee, who posts regularly on Facebook and Twitter, has decided to interact besides holding rallies and participating in processions to get connected to the mass mainly the youth. A post in her Facebook page that reads as “Didi is coming online! Get ready for the first-ever live Facebook chat with Mamata Banerjee herself!” has gone viral within an hour. The post has been liked by 7,500 users of the social networking sites and shared by 828 users in the first two hours of the post. Many have posted comments against the post stating that this is a great step taken and thanked Banerjee for creating a platform where common people can directly ask questions to her. On Monday, Banerjee has also tweeted that Kanyashree Scheme, “has once again received international recognition for its best practices in e-governance, this time from the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), a UN led multi-stakeholder platform for ICT supported development initiatives. It is one of 88 success stories selected among 404 projects submitted for the competition from across the world.”
