Mamata to meet party leaders for monthly review meeting today

Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee is likely to caution her party leaders to stop infighting and work for the masses. She will hold the monthly review meeting at her Kalighat residence on Saturday afternoon. She has decided to hold the meetings on the first Saturday of every month.

Trinamool Congress sources said Banerjee was not happy with the functioning of some leaders and was likely to caution them. While analysing why the party nominees had lost in some of the sure shot seats from the reports received from the losing candidates, it was clear that intra party squabbles had helped the Opposition to bag these seats.

Party insiders said over and again she had told party leaders to give up infighting and work together and help the state government to implement the projects. She even told her party leaders that keep party’s symbol and worship it every day which would inspire them to work for the people. She even asked them to keep their cell phones open from 7 am to 10 pm.

It was also found that many leaders had lost contact with people. Because of lack of contact with people by a section of leaders, the party lost two seats in Durgapur.

People attended the rallies addressed by Banerjee in great numbers but had voted for the Opposition. In Malda, the party lost the seats of two ministers because of infighting. Even in Siliguri, party nominee Baichung Bhutia lost to Ashok Bhattacharya because of the anti party actions of some leaders.

It was found that in many civic bodies, the party’s nominees had lost in most of the wards. Apart from infighting, muscle flexing by some leaders and workers had also defamed the party in many areas.

Party insiders said from the beginning Mamata Banerjee had decided to supervise their functioning.
