Mamata to attend inter-state council meeting in Delhi

Convened after a gap of 10 years, the 11th meeting of the Inter-state Council will have Prime Minister Narendra Modi interact with Chief Ministers of all states.

The issues to be discussed in the meeting include inter-state relations and internal security. But, it is learnt that the issue related to terror attacks would top the discussion.

The recent and repeated terror attack in Bangladesh and arrest of suspected IS activities have come up as a matter of serious concern. Sources said that it is one of the main reasons to hold the meeting after 10 long years.

It may be mentioned that the chairman of the council is the Prime Minister. Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Sushma Swaraj, Manohar Parrikar and Nitin Gadkari are the members of the council and he was nominated by the Prime Minister. Eleven more ministers are invitee members of the council.

According to the sources in the state government, Chief Minister of a state can send a senior official as the state’s representative in the meeting. But, it is learnt the Banerjee will go to attend the meeting instead of sending any senior official.
