Mamata terms Congress-CPI(M) tie-up as ‘rainbow alliance’

“Both Congress and CPI(M) are desperately trying to establish their identities but the people will never forgive those who have betrayed them”. People will defeat the unholy alliance, she maintained. She also maintained that the alliance would not be able to create any dent in Trinamool’s vote bank.

The CPI(M) and Congress are spreading canard against Trinamool Congress. “Now people live in communal harmony and any attempt to destabilise communal harmony has been dealt with seriously.”

CPI(M) had killed 55,000 Congress workers during its 34 years of rule.“ We knew that we will be able to oust CPI(M) and we did it. We will now allow CPI(M) to come back to West Bengal,” she said. She maintained: “People will not forgive Congress for the sin which it has committed in holding CPI(M)’s hand.” She said that the Congress and CPI(M) have conspired against Trinamool Congress but their ‘nasty tricks’ would not work.

She said Trinamool Congress will do well in North Bengal. Earlier, she addressed a rally in Suti. She said this year votes would be held on development and the Trinamool Congress had worked for the people, irrespective of their political colour. “On way to Darjeeling I have come across people who come from Cooch Behar and Murshidabad to work and we have given them benefits irrespective of their political colour.”

Calling the Congress-CPI(M) tie up as “ rainbow alliance” with BJP giving tacit support she said that people would not accept the “ unholy and unethical alliance of the two parties.” She said that 56 lakh people in the district were getting rice at Rs 2 per kg. Forty super specialty hospitals had come up in the state of which 20/25 are functional. The rest will start functioning within a month. School goers have been immensely benefited as they have got bicycles under the Sabuj Sathi project. The Kanyashree project has benefited women throughout the district. She said that the Trinamool Congress did not have much strength in Murshidabad but that never came in the way of development.

Criticising the CPI(M) she said the labourers in their regime were contractual and after coming to power in 2011 they were made permanent. They were under constant fear of losing jobs but now they can work up to 60 years of age.

She said that in health sector Trinamool had done remarkable work. Through the medical college and super specialty hospitals the common masses have received free treatment. They have been set up in Murshidabad and the youth are getting training. The teachers are getting salaries on time. She urged people to vote for Trinammol candidates and defeat the “unholy nexus of CPI(M) and Congress.”

Murshidabad is a Congress stronghold since Independence. Of 22 seats, Congress has 15 seats and Left Front has 7 seats. Trinamool Congress could not open its account in 2011 polls. Banerjee has assigned Subhendu Adhikari to organise the party in Murshidabad.
