Maliwal presents DCW’S annual report to Ansari

Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal on Thursday presented the commision’s annual report 2015-16 to Vice-President Hamid Ansari.

Maliwal briefed Ansari about the work done by the commission in the past one year. She also informed of the present challenges and the future work to be taken up by the commission as regards to women’s welfare in the city

In her 30-minute meeting with the Vice-President, Maliwal informed him about two FIRs filed against her recently. She called it as an attempt to scuttle the “proactive” work being carried out by the Commission.

She said delayed charge-sheets, no digitisation of the charge-sheet records, delayed and improper forensic reports, high workload on judiciary and lack of coordination between the Centre and the state on key issues like policing contributed to crimes against women.

She pointed out the commission's  recommendation of forming a high-level committee on women's safety under Ansari’s leadership, which would also comprise the Chief Minister, Lieutenant Governor, DCW chief and Delhi Police Commissioner.
