Malda triple murder: Two more arrested

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has made two fresh arrests in connection with trader murder at Malda. Earlier, the sleuths arrested Nirmal Singh (28), a person who worked in the brick kiln of the deceased trader.

On Thursday night, police have arrested two others who were detained earlier. Police have detained three persons after the start of the investigation. The businessman, his spouse and their domestic help were stabbed to death inside their house at Vivekanandapalli in Malda Town in the wee hours on Friday. The incident created panic in the area.

The investigators have learnt that the assailants had reached to the spot to kill the businessman Ramratan Agarwal (60) and they did not have any other intention. The CID later confirmed that the murder was pre-planned and not a case of a dacoity attempt gone awry.

“It was a clear case of murder. It was pre-planned and the execution was done without any hindrance,” said a CID sleuth.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had ordered a probe, monitored by the CID, judging the urgency of the case. Ramratan Agarwal (60) owner of some brick kilns in Malda was well admired among the other traders.

On the morning the murder took place, a local woman found the main gate of the  businessman’s house partly open. She found Agarwal lying in a pool of blood beside a car in his garage.

Later, the bodies of the domestic help Ganesh (34) and Agarwal’s wife Manju were also found.
