Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, currently waiting for the release of his forthcoming film Veerappan, says its making is not about “glorifying a criminal”.
Veerappan is based on the dreaded sandalwood smuggler Koose Muniswamy Veerappan. It features how a man-hunt was initiated to kill him. The Satya director took to Twitter to say, “Making Veerappan is not about glorifying a criminal but it’s to put a mirror to how he was allowed to happen in the first place.” The 54-year-old filmmaker shared that the story is a proof of an unpredictable man.
“Story of Veerappan is a proof that just one unpredictable man can overturn an entire existing system. Same is true for Donald Trump too,” he added.
