Major IPS reshuffle in state

In a major reshuffle in the state’s IPS cadre on Wednesday, 60 officers have been transferred including deputy commissioners (headquarters) of three police Commissionerates – Bidhannagar, Barrackpore and Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate.

C Sudhakar, Deputy Commissioner (Special Branch) of Bidhannagar has become Deputy Commissioner (headquarters) of Bidhannagar.

The new Deputy Commissioner (headquarters) of Barrackpore Commissionerate is Amitava Barma, who 
was earlier posted as Deputy Commissioner of the fourth battalion of the Kolkata Armed Police.
Awadesh Pathak has become the new Deputy Commissioner (headquarters) of Asansol-Durgapur police commissionerate replacing Arindam Dutta Chowdhury.

Subrata Kumar Mitra has become the new Commissioner of the Barrackpore Commissionerate. He was earlier posted as DIG Presidency Range. He was replaced by Bharat Lal Meena, who was DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Tanmay Ray Chowdhury has become the new DIG (headquarters). He was earlier the Commissioner of Barrackpore Commissionerate.

There were also certain changes in Kolkata Police as well. Joy Biswas, deputy commissioner (special) of the city police’s detective department has become the new superintendent of police of Purulia district.

Deputy Commissioner of the city police’s Reserve Force Ashesh Biswas has been made the new Special Superintendent of the state’s Enforcement Branch (EB).

Deputy Commissioner of first, second and fifth battalion of the Kolkata Armed Police Biswajit Ghosh, NS Uttamrao and Debasis Sarkar respectively has also been transferred to their new posts.

Biswajit Ghosh has been made the Deputy Commissioner of the Reserve Force of the Kolkata Police and 
Debasis Sarkar became the new Deputy Commissioner of the city police’s Enforcement Branch.

Debashis Bej, the deputy commissioner (traffic) of Howrah Police Commissionerate has been made the Deputy Commissioner of the Howrah City Police’s Special Branch.

Sumanjit Ray, who was Deputy Commissioner of North Zone in Howrah, has been made the new Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) of Howrah City Police.

Subrata Gangapadhyay, who was Special Superintendent of EB, has been made the new SP of West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.
