Major fire at Gurgaon factory, five injured

A major fire broke out in a fashion clothing garment factory in Sector 18 in Gurgaon on Monday, partially destroying it. The incident left at least five workers injured. Fire fighters from two different fire stations took four hours to douse the flames, officials said.

The fire broke out in the early evening hours at Global Fashion’s Sector 18 unit, near Udyog Vihar.
According to IS Kashyap, Chief Fire Officer, the fire gutted the third floor of the factory.

“The ground and other two floors were, however, saved after nearly four hours by fire fighters,” Kashyap added. At least five factory workers were injured in the incident and were rushed to hospital, he said. However, according to the officials, the fire spread after drums having chemical dyes caught fire.

The other employees have also alleged that the company refused to give any clarification as to what led to the fire. In another incident of fire on Monday, a flat in the upscale Sohna Road area was gutted.
