Main accused in Haryana church vandalisation case held

Haryana Police on Tuesday arrested the main accused in the alleged vandalisation of an under-construction church in a village in Hisar district and was questioning few more suspects in the case. “The main accused Anil Godara was on Tuesday arrested from Hisar and taken on remand. The investigations in the case are underway and we are questioning some suspects in the case,” Inspector General of Police (Hisar Range) A K Rao said. “It is our prime duty to maintain peace in the area. The situation is completely peaceful and there is no tension,” he said.

An under-construction church in Kaimri village near Hisar was vandalised by a group and the cross replaced with an idol of Hanuman on Friday. The complainant, Father Subhash Chander stated that the group fragmented the cross and installed the statue of Hanuman and a flag depicting Lord Ram and threatened to kill him.
