Maid tells court ex-BSP MP Dhananjay Singh did not pay her for almost a yr

The NDDLSA has asked the accused Dhananjay, who is in judicial custody along with his wife Jagriti, to explain themselves on the complaint made by Meena, who is in police protection. Both the accused will explain their contention on the next date of hearing on 2 August. The court had put witness Meena and Rampal in police protection, so that they should not face any kind of threat, as they are poor and vulnerable, compare to the accused.

Legal aid counsel, Asim Ali, provided by NDDLSA has said that she (Meena) started to work with Dhananjay as maid from 20 November, 2012, upto 4 November, 2013, for the salary of Rs 6,000 per month. ‘As per her version the dues payment of salary for a year is Rs 66,000 approx. Therefore the accused may kindly be directed to pay the amount,’ said Ali.

During the initial stage of case, the court had raised the suspicion after the commission of the offence, when the accused had sent Meena to the house of one of his relatives or friends in order to prevent her from making any statement to the police. They  said that both the accused along with Rakhi who was killed in the torture, were also beaten up by accused. Meena also claimed that once Dhananjay told her that Rs 10,000 was given to her son-in-law, however, she contended that it could not be verified. Rakhi’s body, who was allegedly beaten by Jagriti, was recovered from his house on 4 November.
