Magic of street food

Professionalizing, Promoting and Providing better opportunities for street food and street food vendors, the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) is set to organize the 6th edition of the grand National Street Food Festival at the sprawling Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium complex in Delhi from December 25-28.

The theme of this culinary carnival is ‘Food That Empowers’, as it would give an opportunity to put on exposition of their skills and also an occasion to the citizenry to partake best food. 

The event will be inaugurated by the renowned master chef Sanjeev Kapoor. On the last day, an award ceremony would be organized wherein the master street food vendors would be awarded in the categories of hygiene, nutrition, serving, customer relation, innovation and popularity. Every day the festival would be in running from 12 noon to 10 in the night.

Announcing this at a press conference held here on  December 16 NASVI national coordinator Arbind Singh said that more than 200 stalls of street foods of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Assam and Meghalaya would be lined up in the festival.

NASVI is also launching a book Street Sathi highlighting the issues of street food vendors during the event. The book would also carry brief talesw of signatures dishes and their creators.

A mobile App -- Street Sathi -- would also be launched simultaneously so that street food vendors can be identified with easy access by customers and tourists.
