Madan Mitra on Friday visited the office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at Salt Lake’s CGO complex on Friday after the Alipore Court had made the changes in allowing him to set his foot outside the jurisdiction of Bhowanipore police station to meet the officers of the Central investigating agency once a week.
Mitra was scheduled to go to the CBI’s office on Thursday. But it had not become possible as the Alipore Court had directed Mitra not to move out of the jurisdiction of Bhowanipore police station but ordered him to visit CBI’s office, which is situated in Salt Lake, once a week.
Thus, Mitra’s counsels had moved to the court on Thursday seeking permission to move outside the jurisdiction of Bhowanipore police station. The court on Friday gave its order in this connection and allowed Mitra to move out of the jurisdiction of Bhowanipore police station once a week to visit the CBI’s office. Soon after getting the court’s direction Mitra had left the hotel, where he had been staying since the day he had got bail, and went to the office of CBI.
After coming out of the CBI’s office, Mitra said that there were no senior officers neither in the investigating officer of the case in the office of the investigating agency on Friday. He was told that all the top officers had gone to Delhi. “But I have followed the court’s order line by line and came to CBI’s office. Since there was no one, we have submitted a letter stating that we had come and took a copy of it as a proof that I personally came to meet the CBI officers as per the court’s order,” Mitra said.
On way back to hotel from CBI’s office, Mitra visited Bhowanipore police station where he spoke to some police officers. When asked about the reason behind his visit to the police station, he said that the policemen there were known to him for a long time and it was just a courtesy visit.
“A lot of development has taken place in the past two years. Today (Friday) I went to CBI’s office through Maa flyover and on way I was really happy seeing the development took place all around. It has happened only because of our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,” he said.
