Madan Mitra shifted to SSKM hospital

Madan Mitra was taken to the SSKM hospital from the Alipore Central Correctional Home on Tuesday evening after he complained of severe chest pain and breathlessness.

The team of doctors from the SSKM Hospital visited the Alipore Correctional Home after the jail authorities had informed the hospital authorities about Mitra’s ailments.

After the check up, the visiting doctors have decided to shift Mitra to the SSKM Hospital. He was brought to the Cardiology department of the hospital and was admitted there. The doctors in the hospital were performing various clinical tests on him. It may be mentioned that on last Sunday Mitra fell ill and a four member team of doctors visited the correctional home but that time they did not feel the need of admitting Mitra to the hospital.

Mitra has been a diabetic patient with some heart ailments. According to the jail authorities Mitra complained of chest pain from Monday and his blood pressure was high.

It was learnt from the hospital sources that after performing the clinical tests he would be taken to the Woodburn ward where he had been kept for a long time since his arrest in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.

He has been admitted at the hospital under Dr Achhutananda Sarkar. Doctors said he will undergo an ECG.
