Luxury resorts, water taxis, wellness centres to treat Sunderban tourists

The scouting mission started at Jharkhali, where she laid the foundation stone of a budget resort and inaugurated a tiger rescue centre.

Harshvardhan Neotia, Chariman, Amubuja Neotia Group informed that the group will set up an Eco-Tourism Luxury Project of 50 cottages with an initial investment of approximately Rs 50 crore and employing about 150 people. The project construction will start by the middle of 2015 and will be completed in two years.

Utsav Parekh and Partha Ghosh, promoters of BAPL, said that they would  venture into water taxi operations in the inland waterways of West Bengal (including Sunderbans) in their bid to promote transportation and tourism. They expect to initially start with a fleet of 30 vessels. While, Sushil Mohta, Director, South City Group told that they will embark upon a wellness-cum-hospitality project on the way to the Sunderbans, on the Kolkata-Basanti Road, for tourists and visitors to Kolkata and Sunderbans immediately.

The investment will gradually go up to about Rs. 300 crore. The project will include Motel with wayside amenities in addition to wellness elements like spa, resort, recreational facilities and tourism villas.

IL& FS also informed that they are in touch with willing investors like Club Mahindra Group. CEO and MD Club Mahindra has also been part of the delegation.

On a philanthropic note, Sanjay Budhia, Managing Director of the Patton Group, who is a  part of CM’s delegation, has announced that free Patton Tanks shall be provided to all social development projects (like schools, colleges hostels, medical institutions, sports institutions etc.) in the Sunderban areas and Gangasagar.
