‘Love to work with young talent’

After the success of their dark thriller NH10, brother-sister duo Karnesh andAnushka Sharma are back with their second production Phillauri, which the actor says is a romantic film with lots of “drama and craziness”.

Phillauri has got shades of drama, craziness and really interesting characters. It is romantic, fun and at the same time very intriguing. The story is set in Phillaur district of Punjab,” said Anushka.

Production was something that Anushka always wanted to venture into and brother Karnesh, also a movie enthusiast, was the right person to collaborate with. “We were very keen about creating something. We would watch a lot of movies and wonder why we were not getting that kind of films over here.

“We always knew that we will produce one day. It was always there on the back of our mind. The transition happened with NH10. It was the right kind of film for us. Our dream is to make content-driven movies that add to the talent pool of our industry,” said Anushka. While producing a film is a “huge responsibility”, Anushka said she loves collaborating with talented young people on new ideas.
Fox Star Studios and actor Anushka Sharma’s home production Phillauri has been scheduled for release on March 31 next year. The actor has assured it will be a “colourful ride”.

Anushka announced the news on her Twitter handle and posted,“I’ve got some news for you. Phillauri will be out on March 31, 2017. This one is going to be a crazy colourful ride, I promise, Fox star Hindi.”

“We are very happy to announce the release date of Phillauri - a romantic, fun film with loads of desi colour. It will release on March 31, 2017.  Currently, the post-production work is on in full swing and we are excited about the way the film is shaping up,” read a statement from the producers.

Co-produced by Clean Slate Films - Anushka’s production banner with brother Karnesh Sharma - and Fox Star Studios, Phillauri is a fun-filled romantic Hindi film set in Phillaur.

Recently, Anushka, who has been a victim to social media trolls several times, said it doesn’t bother her anymore. Anushka has been criticised on social media sometimes for her looks and sometimes over her reported on-off relationship with Test cricket captain Virat Kohli. She has faced it all. She was also once called a “bad omen” for being by her rumoured beau Kohli’s side during the ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final in Melbourne.

“If you are chauvinistic mind, you will not be able to take the fact there is a strong, successful girl... I have been trolled multiple times and it doesn’t affect me anymore,” said Anushka .

“One cannot respond to these things seriously because it’s just a person from who is writing something because one must have had a bad day, is pissed off, had a fight with the girlfriend or maybe got dumped... The easy way to act out is to strike somebody who wouldn’t probably answer back to you and wouldn’t fall down to you level,” she said.

The actor also had shared recently that she was excited to work with Shah Rukh and Imtiaz.“Imtiaz understands man-woman relationship in an intense way. There is a growth in his characters during the course of the film, love teaches them... I think that’s the beauty of his romantic movies. Shah Rukh is the king of romance.

“His intensity as an actor and humility as a person is going to come across on screen. It’s a great opportunity to work with the king of romance and a director, whose love stories are always so romantic”, said Anushka.
