Locals rough up two private bus helpers for racing against each other in Bidhannagar

Local people beat up helpers of two private buses after three school children and their parents had a narrow escape as both the buses were racing against each other. The incident took place near PNB Bus Stop in Bidhannagar on Friday morning.

Police said that three students and their parents had boarded a private bus on route number KB-17 from Kankurgachi. It has been alleged that from the very beginning the bus was racing with another one on the same route. The bus that was behind was repeatedly trying to overtake the vehicles in which the students and their parents were travelling. At the same time driver of their bus was also leaving no stone unturned in not allowing the other one to overtake it.

The students and their parents got down from the bus near Haryana Vidyamandir in Bidhannagar. As soon as they got down, they found another bus on the same route overtaking using a little space left on the left hand side. Thus they fell in between both the buses.

They cried for help and a civic police volunteer, who was on duty at the spot, had also noticed the entire incident and rushed for help. The civic police caught helpers of the buses and brought them aside. The drivers had, however, had managed to flee with the vehicles at that time.

Local people started beating up the conductors. Later, police went to the spot and rescued them. They were taken to the police station. Later, drivers of both the buses were also caught.

The students and their parents were traumatised. However, they remained unhurt. Abinash Sinha, an eyewitness, said that all six of them had a narrow escape. The buses had stopped at the right time hearing people shouting or else it would have led to a major incident.

It may be mentioned that a few days ago a pool car accident had taken place at the same area. Thus, the local people urged the police to take necessary steps to ensure that no such incident take place again.
