Little ones to vent their woes in new talk show

In the only talk show of its kind for children, tiny-tots in the age group of 3 to 8 years will be asked to vent their woes and wishes to a moderator, dressed as a sailor, in a set recreating underwater environment.

Named ‘Lakshi Chhana’ the show will be aired on a popular Bengali channel on Children’s day (November 14).

Children will speak their mind and open up about how they are left alone by parents the whole day, spurned by a stressed father after returning home from office, or bullied by friends, director Somnath Roy said.

Sujan Neel Mukherjee, stage and film actor and anchor of the show, said: “Bringing out the kids from the format of talent show of singing, dancing we aim to give them a window to reach out to a responsive world which will never laugh at any thoughts.

“They can say about how much they miss the adults and how much the adults are unresponsive to the concerned child’s cries for attention at home.” Neel, dressed as sailor-captain, will dole out gifts from the Santa Claus-type ‘jhola’ to the children.

“The show, first such one in the country, will also wean away the toddlers and the little ones from tab and computer games and the adult world of entertainment, Neel, whose recent directorial film ‘Chocolate’ had been acclaimed, said.
