Lighting to view night sky clearly to come up at New Town

State-of-the-art lighting arrangements are in the pipeline for New Town, with the help of which people can clearly see the sky in the evening or at night. The lights, which will be installed by a renowned 

lighting company, will not affect the sight while looking at the clear sky.

West Bengal Housing  Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (WBHIDCO), the nodal agency for all the development in the New Town area, has an agreement with the lighting company to install such lights across the township.

The unique shape, which has made those lights different from halogen lamp, will spread horizontally, 

so that people can see the sky clearly in dark.

“Those are specially created decorative light of different shapes and size,” said a HIDCO source.

However, various halogen lights and ornamental lights have already been installed in New Town.

The Eco-Park, one of the main attractions of New Town is also equipped with some decorative lights.

The township now finds its place in the smart city list of the central government.

The green city project of the state has also been initiated here It has witnessed the most exquisite variety of urban lighting here in its path, parks, square and main roads.

But there are some areas where lighting is really needed in New Town. The new lighting projects will illuminate those areas. “It is a lovely city. This city has a rural connect with urban lifestyle. In my country, there are many big cities. Some of them are really big. The makers of the New Town have successfully engrossed the sense of quality living here,” said Daniela, a US citizen.

The township has, however, going to have decoration alongside the Biswa Bangle Sarani. The work has been initiated there. Various new decorative works have been initiated already. The stretches from Salt Lake to Chinar Park will be face-lifted.
