LG Jung inaugurates senior citizen mobile application of Delhi Police

On the occasion of International Day for Older Persons, to promote a sense of safety among the senior citizens in the national Capital, Delhi Police on Saturday launched a mobile App for them — Senior Citizen App. Through this application, senior citizens (60 years and above) who are living alone or with their spouse and those who live with family but remain alone for a long period during day time, can register themselves with Delhi Police.

With the help of this innovative mobile application, a beat officer of a particular police station will stay updated and informed about the welfare of its senior citizens. The launch of the mobile application was attended by the Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung apart from the Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma and other top brass from the elite police force.

What makes this mobile app unique and innovative is that earlier, the beat officer had to save the selfies of the senior citizen with him on his phone. Now, the beat officers will be able to upload the pictures of the elderly on the application.  One of the unique features of this app is the presence of an SOS button where, in case of an emergency situation, with just the click of the SOS button, a call will be made by a senior citizen.
