Lessons in hygiene from culinary masters

To honour its culinary masters, Shangri-La’s - Eros Hotel celebrated  the International Chef’s Day on 16 October. Under the helm of Executive Chef Martin Braecker, the hotel’s master chefs were all geared up to make this day special by celebrating it with the young patrons of  Bal Sahyog a children’s world and Social welfare organization that looks after the needs and safety of  helpless and neglected children. The hotel’s culinary masters also celebrated Global Hand Washing Day and World Food Day- 'Family Farming: Feeding the World, Caring for the Earth' during the International Chef’s Day.

The chefs raised awareness about hand washing amongst the kids at Bal Sahyog. They motivated the children to wash hands with soap and inculcated in them the basics of hygiene. The Global Hand Washing campaign was initiated to reduce childhood mortality rates related to respiratory and diarrheal diseases by introducing simple behavioral changes - hand washing with soap. This simple, accessible action can, according to research, reduce the rate of mortality by almost 50 per cent.
It was an eventful day at Bal Sahyog and the team surely created sweet memories for the kids.
