Leather fair lures 46 countries’ visitors

The 29th edition of the India International Leather Fair (IILF), the fastest growing leather industry trade fair in the world, came to a successful end at Chennai Trade Centre on Monday. A total of 9,239 serious business visitors visited the fair in first two days.

This included 284 foreign business visitors from 46 countries. There is an increase of 10 per cent in the number of business visitors compared to IILF 2013.

Foreign business visitors came from Australia, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Italy, Mexico, Japan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, Uzbekistan, the UAE, the UK and the USA. According to the exhibitors, over 90 per cent of the participants have confirmed their participation in the 30th edition of IILF (January 31-February 03, 2015).

This year exhibitors booked larger space for stalls compared. Over the last 29 years, the display area has increased by 500 per cent from 1,800 sq m in 1986 to 9,200 sq m in 2014. ‘The fair has completely metamorphosed into an international fair of top quality business and product facilities and it is a must to participate in the fair,’ said Carlo Katic from Molina Bianchi, Italy.
