Leasing out Delhi Airport for Rs 100: HC to hear plea

Delhi High Court on Tuesday agreed to hear an application seeking direction to CBI to register a case of alleged bungling in the leasing of around 5000 acres of prime land to private companies for modernisation of Delhi airport.

A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath said it will not go into the merit of the issues raised in the petition, but decide whether the plea for revival can be allowed or not.

The court observed that since there was no order passed on disposal of the petition, it needs to decide the issue raised by the petitioner that no final order was passed regarding their plea earlier.
As per the petition, the case was disposed of in July 2006, since the matter relating to the award of the contract in question was agitating before the Supreme Court.

The court listed it for hearing on September 14 after it was informed that by a July 20, <g data-gr-id="17">2006</g> order of this court, the parties were granted liberty to revive the matter once the matter pending before the Apex Court was disposed of.
