Missed a university exam? File a fake police case to hide from the adverse effects. This is not an advice, but an escape route chosen by a 19-year-old student after missing her university exam by filing a fake complaint of gang-rape by unidentified people, said police officials.
A teenage student from Delhi, who studies in a university in Noida, missed her exams after reaching the university late and filed a fake gang-rape complaint. However, she broke down during interrogation by police and later confessed in court that it was her mistake to file a fake complaint as she feared the adverse reactions from her parents, an official said.
The police get several cases of eve-teasings and sexual assaults in the national Capital which has made it earn an image of the most unsafe places for woman in India and the police are also alleged of an insensitive behaviour towards the victims. The courts too have rejected many cases considering them as fake.
Police officials said: “A woman filed a case against unidentified people and police started searching for the people from December 2. On interrogating the girl, she said that four unidentified men took her from Safdarjung to Mahamaya flyover in Noida in a car. Then they gang-raped her near Mahamaya flyover at gunpoint and immediately Delhi Police filed a case and transferred it to Noida Police.”
Amarnath Yadav, SHO, Sector 39 police station, Noida said: “We asked the lady to visit the Sector 39 police station on December 10, where the case was being investigated. We doubted her as she was stammering during interrogation. So we asked her to repeat the statement, and she accepted that the incident is not true. She was afraid that how her parents would react if they come to know that she has missed her exam. We then let her off by warning her not to repeat it again.”
