Land to be acquired after farmers’ consent: Khattar

“Consent constitutes the basis of acquisition and land will be acquired only after securing broader consent of the owners,” Khattar said in a release here.
He hailed the provisions incorporated in the ordinance which removed the “bottlenecks” in the way of land acquisition for welfare projects. On Wednesday, BJP-led Haryana government had said the ordinance on Land Acquisition Act would be implemented in the state with immediate effect.
The move came after the Centre recommended promulgation of an ordinance making significant changes in the Land Acquisition Act including removal of consent clause for acquiring land for five areas of industrial corridors, PPP projects, rural infrastructure, affordable housing and defence.
To a query, the chief minister said, there were complaints of rampant corruption and his government would eliminate them with the support of all, while he expressed surprise as to how the system functioned for the last so many years.
“We are ensuing transparency in all types of works and administrative officers have been directed to ensure strict compliance. Moreover, online system for redressal of grievances has been launched in the state. We are working to ensure that the complainant feels satisfied after redressal,” he added.
Underscoring the policy of “zero-tolerance” to corruption, he said that the government would appeal to all, including leaders, and officials, to stay away from malpractices and work for the glory of the state.
He said that a conference of legislators, elected for the first time, would be held at Surajkund in Faridabad where they would be imparted two-day training in legislative work.
As many as 39 out of 47 BJP MLAs got elected for the first time. The BJP president and general secretaries would also attend the conference.
In reply to another question, he said the skill development would be ensured to enhance the employability of youth.
Unemployment being a cause of concern, the state government would take effective steps to deal with it.
“Bhagwad Geeta is a holy granth (scripture) and the benefits of all such granths should be taken and incorporated in our education system,” he added.
On power loss issues, he said that the state government had to bear the burden of about Rs 5,500 crore on this account alone every year.
“Many Bills have not been paid. There is a tendency among the people in some villages, towns and slums not to pay bills,” he said.
