Land mafia crushes senior citizen to death in G Noida

A group of land mafia infamous for grabbing land with the support of local politicians in Greater Noida region, on Sunday crushed a 65-year-old man with a tractor injuring eight others.

Police said that the victims were attacked while opposing a land grabbing by the mafia. The incident also sparked tension in the region revealing police inaction to control the audacious mafia.

The incident took place around 2 pm in Gulawli village of Greater Noida when the family of one Ishwar Singh was watering a field located at the outskirts of the village. Another group, which was allegedly trying to capture the field, reached there asking the family to leave the field. 

While opposing their act, the armed goons belonging to a mafia gang attacked the family. 

In between the fight Ishwar Singh along with eight family members were beaten brutally. The attackers crushed Singh under the wheels of the tractor following which he died on the spot.

The passers-by took the victims to a private hospital in Faridabad where Ishwar was declared brought dead while the remaining eight- Pushkar, Sonu, Apamrpal, Mahendra Shyam Singh, Ramesh, Karam Singh and Naveen were admitted. The condition of three -Ramesh, Karam and Naveen is stated to be critical as they have received severe injuries.

Police have registered a case in Knowledge Park police station but are yet to identify the accused persons. “We have registered a case and are investigating the matter. We have been questioning the villagers in order to identify the assailants,” said an official investigating the matter.
