Lamba visits Vidhan Sabha Metro stn after complaints against unruly auto drivers

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to Vidhan Sabha Metro station after she received complaints against unruly auto and rickshaw drivers who often misbehave with them.

After the visit, she said that she will bring this matter to the notice of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

“It is a common scene at the Vidhan Sabha Metro station where these drivers are seen forcing the commuters to board their autos or rickshaws. They <g data-gr-id="25">sometime</g> even go down stairs to force the commuters,” said Lamba.

If a passenger refuses to go in some auto, the auto drivers prohibit others from ferrying him or her. Such incidents are common in Metro stations, where auto drivers keep shouting at the top of their voice to get passengers.

The auto drivers generally block a person’s way and compel them to board their autos. Instances of auto drivers trying to outsmart each other to woo commuters and in the process entering into fights among themselves are also quite common.

“It is really a pathetic situation. I was about to hire an auto when other auto drivers started shouting and forcing me to board their vehicle. They were almost forcing me to go with them and were trying to grab me. It seems that no one has control over these drivers,” said Sandeep Narayan, a daily commuter.
