Lalit’s leaked documents on Vivek Nagpal point to bigger, murkier hawala network

Vivek Nagpal, an alleged hawala operator, was torn apart by former IPL czar Lalit Modi who not only revealed loads of documents establishing his nexus to hawala operators in Switzerland and in London but also posted documents supporting his money laundering activities - quoting obscene figures running into thousands of crores.

Such was the magnitude of the expose that Modi claimed that Nagpal was desperately trying to get in touch with him with a plea not to reveal much on the social networking site. “Pressured my family not to do this and #viveknagpal himself saw data and begged not to expose. @INCIndia <g data-gr-id="57">gameon</g>,” Modi tweeted.

Taking a dig at President Pranab Mukherjee’s secretary Omita Paul, one of his tweets read, “Check
the records of his phone bills, entry records to finance ministry and house of <g data-gr-id="53">fm</g> and <g data-gr-id="54">omita</g> paul.”

Modi also named one “<g data-gr-id="56">Somesh</g>” (whose antecedent is not known) who (in connivance with top politicians and bureaucrats) helped some of the Income Tax (IT) officers in Mumbai, Nashik, Surat and in Baroda to swing favourable postings and induction of Dr Sunil Gupta as a director in Punjab National Bank.

Some of the IT officers whose names have been revealed by Modi <g data-gr-id="72">include:</g> Prabhat Kumar Srivastava, Satish Desai, Pragati Kumar, AP Saxena, Ravi Shankar Srivastava. <g data-gr-id="71">Vivek,</g> is believed to be linked to several BCCI <g data-gr-id="58">top-guns</g> and was one of many businessmen whose phone was tapped by a private detective agency which had also targeted present Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley two years ago.

Going a step further, Modi released call records of Nagpal (9810414494) – which was one of the 82 pages released by him - with alleged hawala operators in Singapore and in London.

Right from his investments, shares to floating numerous companies, Modi asked probe agencies to look into his connection with Habib Bank in Zurich and also to have a peek at the “Trial Balance of Mirador Commercial Private Limited”.

“What are you doing with Anoop Sethi of Indus Capital in Singapore,” he asked, leaving it to the probe agencies to investigate. “Breaking news <g data-gr-id="59">vivek</g> Nagpal part 1 just a teaser from half a million documents. All being uploaded @INCIndia https://www.hightail.com/download/bXBaSlJ3NDR6NE9wSHNUQw. This is just the trailer,”
his tweet said.
