Lalit Modi drags Prez son into row

In a tweeter post, Modi highlighted an email communication (Subject: High Confidential) sent by one Sunil Bajaj on September 10, 2012 to Rahul Taneja of Essar Group in Mumbai, which reads, “Dear Rahul, Attached is the CV of Mr. Avijit Banerjee strongly recommended by <g data-gr-id="40">Hon’ble</g> President Sh. Pranab Mukherjee. He has done PGDM in Business Management having 3 years of experience in Retail Business.”

It went on saying, “President desired to place him in Kolkata. I told that Matrix & CBM project is doing hiring in Kolkata, West Bengal. I request you to kindly look into the case for doing the needful, Regards Sunil Bajaj”.

Again, on October 11, 2012, Sunil Bajaj once again mailed a letter to Rahul, which reads, “Dear Rahul <g data-gr-id="38">bhai</g>, I once again request you to process the same as I am having constant pressure from <g data-gr-id="39">Hon’ble</g> President Pranab Mukherjee.”

Recently, Modi who is literally on an “expose mode” through social networking site not only targeted senior Congress and BJP leaders including party president Amit Shah but also took a dig at President’s secretary <g data-gr-id="36">Omita</g> Paul.

Modi accused Paul of being close to an alleged hawala operator Vivek Nagpal. “The biggest Hawala operator is#vivek#nagpal, also best known as #omita#paul’s#bagman. Lots of data on him. Does anyone care,” Modi’s one of the tweets reads.

Reacting over the tweets, President House issued a statement which reads, “The office of President
Pranab Mukherjee has denied the charges leveled against Omita Paul, President’s secretary, by former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi. His charges as baseless, tendentious and malicious allegations”.

Presently, Abhijit Mukherjee, is a Congress MP from Jangipur constituency in West Bengal. He won the election in 2012 by 2,536 votes and defeated CPI (M) candidate Muzaffar Hussain.
