Lalit Modi dares ED to prove charges

Former IPL chief Lalit Modi on Tuesday challenged the enforcement directorate to prove any charge against him even as he admitted to close relations with Vasundhara Raje and Sushma Swaraj’s family. Lalit Modi admitted that he had appealed for help to Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje as his wife was sick and he was wronged by the previous UPA government.

Both Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje are facing opposition onslaught for helping the former IPL chief, who faces ED probe in India and has been living in UK since May 2010. While Sushma Swaraj is in the midst of a storm for helping him with his travel papers to Portugal, Vasundhara Raje reportedly backed his UK immigration application with a witness statement.

Reacting to the revelations, Vasundhara Raje feigned ignorance about the documents, which were first revealed by a TV channel. Speaking to India Today in Montenegro, Lalit Modi said that Vasundhara Raje did give a written statement for his UK residentship. He further claimed that the Rajasthan chief minister even accompanied his wife for treatment in Portugal.
