Lajpat Nagar rape case: Youth chargesheeted

The Delhi police has filed its chargesheet in a court here against a youth for allegedly wrongfully confining and attempting to rape a teenaged girl and shoving an iron rod into her mouth when she resisted his attempt.
In its chargesheet filed before Metropolitan Magistrate Amitabh Rawat, the police said accused Anil Devraj had attempted to rape and murder the 19-year-old student after trespassing into her house in south Delhi on the night of 4 February.
25-year-old Anil, working with a local power distribution company, was arrested by the police on 5 February after a case was lodged against him by the family members of the girl, who was studying in Class XI.
‘After coming to know that the girl was alone in the house, where the youth had come to collect the monthly electricity bill, he tried to force himself on her and assaulted her when she resisted,’ the chargesheet said.
