KVIC in novel alliance with PowerGrid to boost sales

Khadi and Village Industries Commission has entered into a novel tie up with the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited [PGCL], a PSU under the Ministry of Power, recently.

Under the agreement, KVIC would provide employees of the PSU a discount of 30 per cent , as against the standard discount of 20 per cent, for purchasing Khadi products up to a total value of Rs. 4,200.

The the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited in turn, would reimburse the employee a sum of  Rs. 3,000 on presentation of original Khadi India cash memo / bill, which is the actual post-discount amount the employee, would have paid to the KVIC, if he or she had made a purchase of Rs. 4,200. 

The scheme is valid upto 31st December 2016 to all 10,283 employees of PGCIL on presentation of original valid ID card at the sales counters of Khadi India Outlets.

Announcing this, KVIC Chairman, V.K.Saxena, said the agreement will be a win win situation for both KVIC and PGCL’s employees as the KVIC will benefit because it would be able to sell products worth Rs. 4.32 crores to 10,283 PGCL employees by 31st December which will generate 86,000 extra man hours for Khadi artisans, while the PGCL staff will benefit because they will get to buy Khadi products worth Rs. 4,200 each free of cost. 

The PGCL would benefit as it would earn the goodwill of its employees and thus pave the way for better productivity.

Meanwhile, KVIC has recorded a sale of Rs. 6.18 crore from the recently concluded India International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidan in Delhi were 200 stalls of various Khadi product from the across the country were set up in the pavilion No-15.
