Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project wins project management award

Koteshwar Hydro Electric Project [400 MW] of THDC India Limited [THDCIL] has won the most prestigious PMI India Project Management Award-2012. D V Singh, director [Technical], THDCIL along with senior officers of THDCIL received the award on 28 September in a late night grand ceremony in Project Management National Conference, India 2012, the country's largest conference on project management with participation of more than 1,000 project management professionals from all over country, held at Chennai. The award was presented by Mark Langley, CEO, PMI to D V Singh, director[Technical], THDCIL.

Koteshwar project has been adjudged winner in Category Best Project of theYear - Long duration [more than 3 years] among more than 75 submissions from all sectors under this category. The award has been given in recognition of excellence and the outstanding performance by THDCIL in implementation of Koteshwar Hydro Electric project by applying best project management principles and techniques. Koteshwar is the fastest implemented Hydro Project of nation in its category by starting works almost from scratch in April, 2007 to commissioning of two units in March 2011.

The PMI Awards are based on the judgment of a very eminent 12 members jury panel of international repute consisting of distinguished and accomplished personalities among industry leaders, policy-makers, academicians, and project management champions. PMI is the world’s leading not-for-profit membership association for the project management profession, with more than 650,000 members and credential holders in more than 185 countries.

Koteshwar Power Plant is now generating power at its design installed capacity of 400 MW. Annual energy generation from Koteshwar is 1155 million units.
