Zakaria Street murder: Cops arrest one from Bihar

Kolkata: Police have arrested Anshu Kumar Singh, alias Goltu, one of the main accused from Bihar in connection with the murder of the 56-year-old jeweller at Zakaria Street who was murdered inside the chamber of his jewellery shop few days ago. This is the second arrest in this connection so far.
The accused will be taken to the city in the transit remand after being produced before a court in Bihar.
Acting on specific information, a team of investigators went to the Vaishali in Bihar and arrested Anshu. The police have recovered a mobile phone from the accused which belonged to deceased businessman. After scanning the CCTV footages in and around the area, the cops arrested Md Arshad who was also involved in the crime.
The businessman Md Selim, who used to deal in precious gems and jewels, was found murdered inside the chamber of his shop at Zakaria Street close to Mohd Ali Park in Central Kolkata. A resident of Orion Residency of Rajabazar, he had been running his shop at Zakaria Street for the past three decades.
Police came to know in the investigation that Selim had stayed back at his shop beyond the scheduled hours as he was expecting a customer from Asansol.
Arshad had told Selim that the customers coming from Asansol would buy diamonds. As a result on the day of the incident, Selim told his family members that he would come home late.
