Youth shot at by uncle over family dispute

Kolkata: A youth was shot at by his uncle on Thursday afternoon at Bhowanipore over some family dispute.

The injured youth identified as Kunal Shaw alias Bittu suffered minor injury as the bullet went pass after touching his body. He was rushed to SSKM Hospital from where Kunal was treated and discharged. The accused persons identified as Manoj Shaw has been arrested. According to sources, Manoj, a convict of a murder case was awarded with life imprisonment.

Recently he got bail and came back to his house which is adjacent to Kunal's. Manoj is his cousin's son. On Thursday around 1 pm, all of a sudden Manoj entered Kunal's house and fired a round at him. Though the bullet passed him after a mild touch, Kunal fell down in pain and bleeding.

Hearing the sound of gunfire and screaming, local residents ran to Kunal's house and detained Manoj. Bhowanipore police station was informed. Later Manoj was handed over to police. The gun was also seized which he used to fire at Kunal. He has been booked in a fresh case on Thursday for attempt to murder and charges under sections of Arms Act.
