Youth, mother thrashed for refusing to pay subscription

Kolkata: A youth was badly beaten up by some people after he refused to give subscription of Rs 200 for Jagadhatri puja. The victim's mother, who came to his rescue, was also manhandled. Both the mother and her son are undergoing treatment at the hospital with injuries on their bodies. It was learnt that the victim, a resident of Daton in West Midnapore, was returning home with his tractor along with his mother. When they were passing through the Pachrol area of West Midnapore, a group of 14 youth stopped them and asked for the subscription. The victim refused. The accused then started beating him up. Despite the victim pleading for mercy, some of the gang members kicked him and punched in his abdomen. The miscreants did not even spare the elderly woman and beat her up as well.
