Youth, minor girl found dead on railway tracks

Kolkata: The bodies of a 28-year-old youth and a 15-years-old girl were recovered from the railway track at Chakdah in Nadia. Police are yet to ascertain the cause of their death.
Preliminary investigation suggests that they were in a relationship and might have committed suicide. The victims are Pranab Sarkar (28) and Kalyani Haldar (15). In the course of investigation, police came to know that the both of them were the residents of Nirmalpally area of Shimurali in Chakdah. The girl was a Class IX student from Kalyani Shimurali Upendranagar Girls High School, while Pranab was a carpenter in some other state. He had returned home a few days ago. They had gotten into relationship a few months ago.
The duo left their home on Saturday afternoon but did not return home at night. The family members of both of them started a search operation but failed to trace them.
The family members also called up their relatives' house but to no avail. The local residents on Sunday morning found the bodies of the von the railway track between Madanpur and Shimurali railway stations.
After being informed, the Government Railway Police reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
The bodies were sent for the post-mortem. Police said that it appears that they might have committed suicide. Police came to know in the investigation that the couple had been suffering from mental depression as the girl's family were against the relationship. They were mounting pressure on the girl to end the relationship.
Police have started a detailed probe in this regard and the family members of both the deceased were interrogated.
