Kolkata: Bidhannagar Police arrested a 25-year-old youth from Rajarhat on charges of uploading some objectionable photographs of a woman after creating fake social networking accounts.
The accused, Sheikh Wasim Haider, alias Amit Roy, alias Naved, was arrested on Tuesday night, based on the complaint lodged by the woman with the Cyber Crime police station of Bidhannagar Police commissionerate.
The accused was booked under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 67A of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
Police said that the woman came in touch with the youth, who is originally a resident of Khanakul in Hooghly, in January 2017 over phone and Whatsapp. Later, they got involved in an affair.

Police have seized the electronic devices that were used to commit the crime from the accused. A police officer said that they had traced the internet protocol number through which the photographs were uploaded and it was found to be that of the cell phone of the accused.
