Youth held for raping specially-abled girl

Kolkata: A specially-abled girl was taken from her house by a local youth who allegedly raped her at the latter's residence.
The incident created tension at Kachari Para area of Katwa few days ago. On the basis of specific compliant, police arrested the accused from his house. Police said that the accused has been identified as Nadu Gopal Adhikary. The accused used to work as a priest in the Kacharipara road area. He used to come to the victim's house in this connection. He also developed a good relationship with the victim's family members.
After gaining the trust of her family members, the accused used to take the victim for walks in the locality. One day on the pretext of the walk, the accused took the victim to his house and allegedly raped the victim. The accused is a resident Sukanta Pally area. Police said that the accused is married and he works at a garments shop in the nearby area. The crime was carried out by the accused when his wife was away from home. After being subjected to the torture, the victim returned home and later fell ill. The family members suspected that something wrong might have happened to the victim. While interrogating the victim, her family members came to know about the incident. The victim was taken to a local health center for treatment as she was not feeling well. The family members later lodged a complaint at the local police station on the basis of which police started a probe. The accused had, however, gone missing since the incident.
Police were conducting raids at various places in the district to nab the culprits. Few days after the incident, the police finally managed to catch the accused. The family members of the victim have demanded stringent action against the accused.
