Youth found hanging in Darjeeling residence

Darjeeling: A youth was found hanging at his residence in Darjeeling.
Family members are of the opinion that he might have been involved in betting over IPL cricket match and committed suicide after having lost money in a bet.
The incident occurred at Kalaramjot under the Phansidewa police station in the Siliguri sub division of the district.
Police sources said the 26-year-old Shubhankar Ghosh was found hanging in his room on Friday morning by his family members.
The dead body was then sent by the police to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital in Siliguri for postmortem.
Police have initiated an investigation. They are carefully examining his cell phone call records.
Dipankar Ghosh, elder brother of the deceased claimed that Shubhankar used to be engrossed in the IPL cricket matches. "Throughout the day and night, he used to discuss IPL matches. In the evenings, he used to go out and return late. On returning home, he used to discuss the details of the matches with his friends over the phone," stated Dipankar Ghosh. On Thursday night on returning home, Subhankar had mentioned that he had lost but did not divulge any details of his losses.
Family members noticed that he was restless. He even refused to have dinner when his mother asked him repeatedly. Instead he went to his room.
In the morning, he was found hanging in his room. "We feel that he could have been involved in IPL betting and might have lost considerable amount of money, following which he might have taken the decision to end his life," added Dipankar.
