Youth electrocuted to death at Tiljala

Kolkata: In a tragic incident, a youth was electrocuted to death when he touched a light fitting at Tiljala Shibtala Lane under Karaya police station area on Thursday night. The deceased Md Danish (17), a resident of the same area was walking along the pavement when he touched the fitting that was installed for lighting as part of Kali Puja celebration.
Police sources said that Danish was walking along the pavement at around 10 pm when he touched the light fitting. He immediately fell on the ground and the onlookers who were present immediately took him to National Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The police initiated a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 of IPC on the basis of a complaint lodged by Danish's family members. Gautam Das, a resident of the same area who had fitted the decorative light was arrested by the police in the wee hours on Friday. "He had fitted the light fitting in a negligent manner that led to the electrocution," a senior police officer of South-east division said.
Meanwhile, in a case of kidnap and demand for money over business rivalry, the Jorasanko police station in less than 24 hours managed to rescue a businessman's son. One Mansoor Khan of Rabindra Sarani lodged a complaint on Thursday that his son Imtiaz Khan has been kidnapped by three persons with whom he had a business rivalry. The accused persons also demanded a ransom of Rs 2 lakh from Khan.
He lodged a complaint and the Jorasanko police station took immediate action and by tracking the ransom call, rescued Imtiaz from a hideout at JN Mukherjee Road in Howrah.
The police are conducting raid to nab the three accused named in the FIR Haider Ansari,Tauhid Ansari and Aftab Khan.
