Youth dragged out, shot dead near house in Hooghly

Kolkata: Miscreants dragged a youth from his house, took him a few kilometres away from the house and shot him dead.
The incident took place in Polba area in Hooghly early Tuesday morning.
The victim has been identified as Sunny Jha. According to police, around four armed miscreants stormed into the house of the victim when his mother was at home. The miscreants dragged the victim out of the room. The elderly woman tried to oppose the accused who easily overpowered the feeble woman. Police said one of the accused had a gun in his hand when they entered the house.
The victim was a resident of Lal Baba Ashram area at Hooghly Bandel. According to preliminary investigation, police said the victim used to work as a hawker in trains.
Miscreants took him to Polba area on their motorcycle.
On Tuesday afternoon, some locals found the victim lying on a pool of blood inside bush in Polba area. After being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body which was later sent for the post mortem. Police said there were five bullet injuries on his body. They are yet to ascertain the exact cause behind the murder. According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that an old rivalry might have led to the murder. Police have started a detailed probe in this regard. They are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
