Youth attacks woman inside moving train

Kolkata: A woman was attacked by a youth on Sunday night while she was travelling along with her 10-year-old son in a Howrah-Haldia local. The miscreant fled after the train came to a halt before Haldia.

According to sources, on Sunday night one Alaka Jana of Padmapukur in Haldia boarded the ladies compartment of Howrah-Haldia local from Tamluk, with her son.

The compartment became empty at Ranichak station. The train then slowed near Bandar station, where a youth jumped into the compartment.

He came to Jana, took out a knife and asked her to give him her belongings. When Jana told him that she had no valuables with her, the youth allegedly tried to snatch her handbag. When she tried to resist and screamed, the miscreant stabbed Jana on her right

hand.

Meanwhile, the train slowed down between Bandar and Haldia. Taking advantage of this, the youth jumped off the train and fled.
