Woman's body found with throat slit

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a middle-aged woman, whose body with a slit throat was found in a mangrove bush near her paternal house at Haripal in Hooghly on Sunday early morning.
Police said the victim Anya Pakhira had married Gour Pakhira ten years ago. But often there used to be some problems between them.
She had been staying at her paternal house for the past few days following some trouble with her husband.
On Saturday night, the woman's father Kartick Mal found her daughter missing. He contacted everyone and took the help of his neighbours to find her. But they failed and informed the police at late night.
On early Sunday morning, some local people found the woman's body in a mangrove bush and informed the police.
Cops from the nearest police station went to the spot and initiated a probe.
They found a slit mark on the throat of the deceased.
The accused had even smashed her face with a heavy stone which has also been recovered with blood stains from the spot. It had become difficult for the police to identify the woman. Later the police took Kartick to the spot and he identified the body to be of his daughter's. Police suspect that the accused had kidnapped and killed her somewhere and later dumped the body in the mangrove bush.
Police suspect that someone of the locality might be involved in the crime.
Further investigation revealed that the woman used to have regular contact with her husband despite staying at her father's house.
The victim's father alleged that it was her husband who was behind Anya's murder.
The police are going through call record details of her mobile phone and also initiated a search for the victim's husband.
