Woman's body found in pond, kin files murder complaint

Kolkata: Mystery shrouds the death of a housewife whose body was found from a pond situated close to her in-laws' house at Antara village of Raigunge in North Dinajpur. The local residents found the body floating in the pond on Thursday morning and informed the matter to the police.
The incident had triggered tension in the locality.
The deceased has been identified as Mamata Khatun. The family members of Mamata alleged that the woman was murdered at her in-laws' house.
They alleged that the woman's husband and her in-laws dumped the body in the pond after committing the crime.
The family members lodged a murder compliant against the deceased's husband and in-laws on the basis of which police started an investigation.
The local residents said that Mamata was a good natured person.
She got married to Md Seikh of Pirojpur village. Mamata's family members alleged that after her marriage, her husband used to torture her for money but they never expected that she would be murdered in this manner, alleged the family members.
After coming to know about the incident, the family members of woman rushed to the spot where her body was found. They alleged that it was a murder incident.
After being informed Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem.
On the basis of the complaint lodged by the deceased's family members, the police have started interrogation. Police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of her death.
In another incident, Ruby Parveen (28), a resident of Karaya was found unconscious on the floor of her in-laws house. She was declared brought dead after being taken to the hospital. There was a injury mark on around her neck.
Police have detained two persons in this connection so far. They have started a detailed probe into the incident.
